Good news on Typhoon! After Dr. Goetz adjusted his diet and medications again, he has been eating really well and not having any more terrible diarrhea. Here he is after enjoying lunch in his house in Isolation Ward. It seems Ty has bounced back a little bit for now.
Typhoon spent several weeks in hospice care in our Isolation Ward. Learn more about his condition.
Typhoon had his first dose of oral chemotherapy on Dec. 3, 2018, and his second dose Wednesday, January 2. This treatment protocol is less about cancer and more about his inflamed bowel syndrome. According to feline medicine experts, a round or two of this particular chemo could really help ease his inflammation and discomfort.
We are keeping a close eye on Typhoon’s blood work. His in-house panel showed his kidney value was a bit high, which is totally expected due to his advanced kidney disease, but not alarmingly so. His liver value was also high, almost certainly due to his chemo treatment. But his liver is functioning pretty well overall, and his new diet seems to have helped his GI issues enormously.
Best of all: Typhoon has had enough good days resting in Isolation to come up front and visit! He has thoroughly inspected his lobby, his front desk, and his napping spaces. Thankfully, he found everything in good working order.
It was amazing for our pet parents to get to see Typhoon again! Thank you AHBC family for all your thoughts and well wishes. Keep sending good vibes. They are working! As always, follow Typhoon’s status on our Facebook page.
